Information Collected from Everyone
We use cookies and server logs to keep you logged in and maintain the service. If you disable your browser or device’s ability to accept cookies, you will not be able to log in.
The information we collect about all visitors to our website includes the visitor’s browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. We also collect Internet Protocol (IP) addresses.
An additional cookie may sometimes be set by our A/B testing system. This cookie is used to store the versions of the service that were presented to the user, to provide a consistent experience.
Certain pages on our site may set other third party cookies. For example, we may embed content, such as pricing and other related information from another site that sets a cookie. While we try to minimize these third party cookies, we can’t always control what cookies this third party content sets.
Information Collected from Users Registering for an Account
To create an account, we need an E-mail address. we additionally need billing/invoicing information, such as address, country, and VAT number. The European Union also requires us to collect the IP address used at the time of registration as evidence of the country of residence.
Credit card information is not collected, processed or stored by us. It is handled directly by our payment processing company, Stripe
Neither the E-mail addresses, nor billing information will ever be sold to a third party.
Information Collected from Logged-In Users
We collect information about things people do by logging API calls with their timestamps. We also may use other methods of measuring usage of the user interface. All this is done in order to either provide or improve the service. This information will not be sold to third parties.
We compute and sometimes publish aggregated statistics such as rankings of most popular parts, supplier performance without any personally-identifying information.
We may occasionally embed content from third party sites, such as component distributor sites, and that content may include ads. While we try to minimize the amount of ads our embedded content contains, we can't always control what third parties show.
Privacy Practices
We take all measures reasonably necessary to protect your information. However, no method of transmission, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
We will use your E-mail address to communicate with you about changes in the service (such as changes in this Privacy Policy) and provide support.
If you give us permission, we will also send you information about new functionality in Squid. You can revoke this permission at any time in the Settings panel of the app.
You can ask us at any time to delete your Squid account, in which case we will delete all of your data (including your E-mail address).
Disclosure
We may disclose personally-identifying information or other information we collect about you to law enforcement in response to a valid subpoena, court order, warrant, or similar government order, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect our property or rights, or those of third parties or the public at large.
In complying with court orders and similar legal processes, we strive for transparency. When permitted, we will make a reasonable effort to notify users of any disclosure of their information, unless we are prohibited by law or court order from doing so, or in rare, exigent circumstances.
Data Retention
We will retain your login information for as long as your account is active.
In case of company accounts, even if you delete your account, we will retain your billing information in the form of invoices, for as long as required by law.
Changes to the Privacy Policy
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will provide notification to users by posting a notice on the Squid web site, in the service, or by sending E-mail to our users.
